Cycle and Celebrate the West Toronto Railpath
The West Toronto Railpath is a beautiful
and award-winning public space which provides a safe space to walk, ride a bike, and enjoy being active. With this event we celebrate clean and sustainable transportation options, and how the Railpath creates vital connections between diverse communities living and working in this historic neighborhood.
MEETING POINT: where Wallace Avenue meets the Railpath, west of Symington Avenue and three short blocks north of Bloor Street West. Bike valet parking at Wallace thanks to Cycle Toronto.
SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES
NOON Ride west to High Park and back, hosted by Cycle Toronto ward groups
1-4pm, MUSIC at three locations along the Railpath: Maghoub El Bashir & Shawkat Ali (interactive Afro -Arabic Drumming), Jen Hall (bluesy grunge-folk), Scott Baragar Contemporary (Acoustic Rock), Magnetic Pearl (Blues-Folk), Phill Hood (indie pop-rock), Joy Thompson (jazzy-pop), Gel'n'Glo (adult contemporary), Lisa-Marie Kruchak (folk/ singer-songwriter), Jorge Gavidia and Sarah Begin (jazz), Peter Joch, Aaron Manczyk (folk), and Samba Kids! 1-4pm, BIKE CLINICS: hosted by Davenport West Bike Project and Bike Pirates
1-4pm, KIDS BIKE SAFETY ACTIVITIES: hosted by CultureLink and Evergreen Bike Works
1:30pm ART WALK: hosted by Junction Triangle Honey Badger Gay Club
2pm NATURE AND HISTORY WALK: hosted by CultureLink's Intergenerational Eco-Action Committee
3pm BIKE AND PUPPET PARADE led by Arts4All Starts at the north end of the Railpath (at Cariboo)
3:45pm RIBBON-CUTTING at the new access point at Perth and Sterling (south of Bloor), hosted by Castlepoint Development Corp. Free BBQ and music until 6pm!
