Bike Winter 2013

It’s easy to stay in the saddle year round! With the right equipment and friendly company, there’s no reason to put your bike in the basement when winter hits. Check out our winter riding and gear tips for more on riding all year long, and grab a pair of Cycle Toronto socks to keep warm!
During a typical Toronto winter, blizzards or ice storms are the exception, not the rule. Most cyclists legitimately avoid travel during extreme conditions. On any other winter day, though, cycling obstacles are not snow and ice, but rather cold temperatures and wind. By dressing well and having the right amount of determination, year-round cyclists can enjoy using their bikes while feeling comfortable and warm!
On Wednesday, January 30th, we celebrated winter cycling at the Coldest Day of the Year Ride, a short, comfortable, car-free group ride starting from the back of City Hall. BIXI members received extra usage time, and non-members had the chance to test a BIXI bike for free on this ride! Photos coming soon!
